Alexander Mirza is the CEO of Carey International and was appointed in 2025 to lead the company’s strategic, operational, and financial transformation.
Alex was previously Co-Founder and CEO of Cachet Hotels in Shanghai, where he scaled one of the first foreign-founded lifestyle hotel groups in China. Under his leadership, the company launched 10 hotels and restaurants across Asia and the Americas, raised several rounds of capital, and built China’s first carbon-neutral hotel. He later co-founded Mogul Hospitality, a venture-backed technology company recognized as a top global travel tech start-up for its AI-powered talent marketplace. Earlier in his career, Alex served as SVP of Operations at Hilton Worldwide, where he revamped a $2 billion food and beverage business, integrated Hilton International, and launched the Waldorf Astoria luxury brand. He also held senior roles at Starwood Hotels, reporting directly to the CEO and CFO as Head of Strategy, and at Caesars Entertainment as Chief of Staff to the Chairman and SVP of Hospitality, where he led hotel, restaurant, and nightlife developments including Nobu Hotel and Gordon Ramsay restaurants.
Alex has been named a Top 100 Global Hospitality Executive and has published on human capital, artificial intelligence, and sustainability in travel. He currently serves on the advisory board of Cornell University’s Center for Innovative Hospitality and Employment Relations.
A former competitive tennis player, Alex grew up in Canada and worked frontline retail jobs through school, experiences that shaped his belief in the lifelong value of customer service and teamwork.
He earned degrees in economics and political science from Queen’s University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
